E is for

("outtake" photos taken Christmas Day 2011 - for this birthday surprise for Donna.)

Today, those E's are for endure.
I’ve realized in the past couple years, that winter is hard on me. The lack of sun and the cold weather make we want to burrow up and retreat. And I’ve noticed that I really do, and it's not a good thing. I get down on myself and don’t project my typical ambition and drive for life. So, in trying to see the bright side of my great life, and endure through this last stretch of winter, here are some things that are really buoying me up lately:

  • Waking up to the smell and taste of warm blueberry muffins this morning
  • A fun trip to NYC last weekend, and even better reconnecting with a much needed friend
  • A light snow dusting yesterday morning, that made the world look fresh and clean, especially in the morning sun.
  • Preparing a lesson for church on Sunday about Testimonies of Jesus Christ, and refocusing my mind of what really matters
  • The upcoming lacrosse season - writing out the pre-season conditioning work out might actually get me out of my “currently hating exercise” mode.
  • Feeling really accomplished with the work I’m doing, and getting great feedback from co-workers and clients
  • Reading my dad's talk for Stake Conference this coming Sunday and feeling lifted up by his wise counsel.
  • Paul's whistling and singing around the house
  • The white Christmas lights I kept up in our living room (it's like sun therapy for me) :)
  • Trying out new colors and clothing combinations, and feeling more confident doing so.
  • Looking forward to the any-day-now arrival of a new niece and nephew (is there anything in the world as happy as twin babies?)
  • The Women's Lacrosse coaching book Paul just bought me as we wandered through Barnes and Noble for our Friday night date (mostly to look at Bicycling Magazine... oh yes, and him picking up a magazine, and saying "oh this looks cool, oh wait.... look - I'm in it" dreeeamm come true!)
  • Watching these videos of my mom Irish dancing and feeling so proud of how amazing and dedicated she is.
  • Looking forward to making sugar cookies and watching Pushing Daisies episodes with Paul this weekend.
So guess what, my life's pretty good when I decide to remember the happiness that's going on over here. Does anyone else get winter blues?

Have a lovely weekend!

oh so many things to say.
1. love your new header!
2. Way to look at the things that make you happy
3. I've never watched pushing daisies so now I will have to try it out.
4. I love blueberry muffins too.
5. I always get the winter blues, but luckily I now live in the Land of Enchantment where there are 305 + sunny days a year. Sorry about the winter blues Christine...just remember that spring is around the corner!!!

Those are great things to be happy about. You have inspired me. I am going to crawl out of my bedroom and make a list for myself. It is dumb to let these winter blues keep hanging on when there is so much around that makes me happy. You are a wonder woman! I am impressed with all that you do and the zest with which you do it. Thanks for loving and caring for that boy of mine.
