In July, New York had a Summer Streets event going on for a few Saturdays, and so we headed into the city with friends Drew, Kerri and Baby Kate to experience it.

They closed down an entire avenue to cars and opened it up for some good ole recreation.
This smartest young New Yorker set up a Lemonade stand - and for a good cause!
This guy was thrilled.
We were just a bit too late to get to rock climb, but I loved that they had all these great free events! Rockwall, Zip Line, free bike rentals, and more.
We wrote our resolutions for a greener NYC (slash world).
Then, as the streets reopened, we headed over to Washington Square Park and I loved this piano player. How did he get his piano into the park is the real questions but his music was pleasant and lovely.
I really would love to come play chess here sometime, but we were hungry and on a mission.
To find Mamoun's Falafel! I'd never had a Falafel, and let me tell you - I will be back here with anyone who will go with me.
Delicious!
Then back to New Jersey we went.
Princess baby Kate and her servants.
Thank you to Drew for pointing out this info board at the Newark Train Station that still changed the old fashioned way (non-digital). See the second to the last line, it was in the process of flipping to the new info and it made all sorts of great clickity noises.
This little lady was such a champ in the heat, and we are just becoming BFFs.
This is the first day that I felt like we were in New York as semi-locals. Usually we are doing all the very touristy things, but this time we just enjoyed Summer Streets with all the other New Yorkers and then had a picnic in the park before heading back. We sure like being close enough to hop into the city for a few hours.
Bonus picture! Most handsome husband on the train.
