Today was a typical Wednesday at the Olive Garden.
Sometimes I forget that it's Wednesday, but then remember when all of our large tables are full. Typically there is one nervous looking young man in a white shirt, tie and suit and his family, kind of nervous looking, in normal clothes (because thanks to H1N1, they no longer get to actually "go in", they just drop them off at the curb).
I love asking these young men where they are about to leave for their 2-year LDS mission.
Today my table was West Virginia. I didn't have much to say about that one.
When I came back with the salads for West Virgina and his family, his dad asked (kind of awkwardly) "So why are you living in Provo?"
I told him I'd just finished at BYU, and my husband was still in school until April.
He asked what I had studied.
"Public Relations.... and my husband is doing Biology. We are going to grad school in the Fall, maybe to New Jersey" (that's for you Val, but I seriously said it).
That was about it. They were really nice, and easy to serve. Didn't need lots of refills, just happy... and nervous.
They paid. They left to the MTC, still looking nervous.
I picked up the black book...
Their check was $41 and some odd cents.
The tip was $50.
Thank you.

thank you, Christine, I did love that (bow)
and, yes, I went to the Olive Garden with my family the day I went into the MTC, too.

Whoa cool! I'll be expecting an awesome birthday present from you! (I'm totally kidding, I expect nothing.)
Val, do you remember how Nathan was driving the Porsche? That was neat.
