Guess it's time for a revamp anyway. Dang it.
On a different topic, I'm kind of ticked about a new show that is on TLC called "Sister Wives".
I bet you can guess what it's about- yeah, a polygamist family. "The real life version of Big Love," according to TLC. You're really letting me down TLC. They were on the Today show this morning, and I just can't help but feel... irked? Yes, irked.
Do you know how many times I've been asked if Mormon's are polygamist (aka, if I'm polygamist) since I moved to NJ? It's a really sad, but true misinterpretation that people have and hold and pass along. It's all some people think they know about Mormons. And now, this guy and his four wives are going on national TV, letting people assume they are Mormon, and making it even harder for people to understand that my religion is not a polygamist hang out club. Kind of drives me nuts. If your not sure what I'm ranting about, I'd say check it out the real deal here.
How do you feel about it?
Also, I (especially) hate the Waldamort today.

i'll tell you how i feel about it.
i chat with people who have questions on mormon.org and recently i've been asked a lot about "the 19th wife" which so happens to be a film made by TLC as well. i didn't know what they were talking about so i watched/listened to it when chats were slow one night and it was awful. what do i have to say to TLC? you. are. blasphemous.
.. i've been pretty upset about it lately as well..haha

I heard about the same things in KOREA. It's the sensational stuff everyone loves. It drives me nuts, but I am grateful you are out there to kill the wrong perceptions...go get 'em!
Sometimes this hurts LDS feelings, but Mormonism is larger than the LDS church. There are many and diverse churches, loosely-organized groups, and simply modes of thinking that can appropriately lay claim to the moniker "Mormon" who have nothing to do with the LDS church. In other words, LDS don't own the term "Mormon," though we (and others) often think we do.
And I'm guilty of it too, but something to keep in mind all the same.

Hi Christine... Just found your blog from your facebook link. Haha. This show really upsets me too. I watched the first part of the first episode and the dad did a good job of distinguishing the huge differences between the LDS church and the FLDS church, basically saying polygamy has nothing to do with Mormons. However, if people didn't see that first episode I'm sure they can't distinguish the difference. They act like a typical LDS family in Lehi besides the fact that there are 3 moms and a million kids and their dad is dating another woman. Very misleading/annoying/disgusting.
