Our last stop of the trip was Zürich.
The train ride there did not disappoint. Pretty vineyards on the hills, cool bridges, rives, and churches in the cities.
We checked in our Hotel Ibis, squeezed into the elevator, then dropped our bags off and went to explore the city.
Zürich was really charming. Cobbled streets, colored buildings, cute shops.
And a big river that went through the center of town.
We were really hungry and found this cute little shop to eat at. It was so good!!
Then I drove Paul mad by going into the same shops over and over again trying to find myself a souvenir. I was being so picky and his frustration was totally legitimate. At least the streets we walked up and down 15 times were pretty!
I bought a little wooden carved cow at this place, but also loved this little goat parade that reminded me of my fave book Heidi.
We watched this rowing race/practice in front of the boat house.
We were pretty exhausted and went back to the hotel before dark. The view from this hotel was less breathtaking then our other stops along the journey had been. Paul and I decided we are mountain people through and through. We still had another half-day to explore the city and tried to put on our best attitudes.
We woke up the next morning and went to try to find these water taxi's I had read about. We never found them but how about all these swans!??
Just being a kid and chasing the pigeons.
We visited the Zürich museum (our only museum stop of the whole trip) and actually really liked it!
I'm always a sucker for hundred year old clothes. Especially this eyelet number!
I took a shot of this book because "People came to the Alps to regain health and strength. AMEN!
The lighting in this corner of the museum was so nice. We also caught another couple making out nearby... hahaha.
I want to eat Thankgiving dinner here with the fancy Frandsen green goblets. The ceiling! The stained glass! I loved this one.
And we saw the water taxi that Paul thought I was making up!
Why didn't I buy one of those gnomes???
This ones for you Demi- Macarons and Macaroons!
Near this spot I finally found my souvi! A pretty handprinted scarf from a nice little shop.
On our way to the airport this subway painting felt so nice and yet so ironic given how much stuff I was carrying. Then again, everything I needed for past 10 days I was wearing on my body!
Swiss airlines for the direct flight home. Swiss chocolate instead of peanuts.. yum!
And how about waking up the next morning at 5 am and watching Parks and Rec with Paul because of the Jet Lag? Oh yeah, and chocolate cake for breakfast since we didn't have anything else in the house.
This Europe adventure was so fun. It really was our dream trip and the honeymoon we would've taken had we known ourselves and each other that well 5 years before. I dreamt of the day when I could go back, and all the sudden - that day is tomorrow!
Paul has been in Bonn, Germany for the past 10 days and now I get to go join him for the summer. We are thrilled at another chance to visit new and beautiful places. :)
